Holly Lindstedt

Holly Linstedt originally grew up in Curtis, NE and graduated from Medicine Valley. After college and receiving her degree in Business Administration, she married her husband Matt Lindstedt in 2006. Matt was raised in Cozad and works for Union Pacific Railroad and also Ted's Truck and Auto, which is family owned and operated. They decided to make Cozad their home and moved here in 2013. Holly is an Administrative Assistant, licensed in property and casualty insurance, at Shelter Insurance in Cozad.


Holly and Matt have one son, Ashton attending Cozad Elementary. They love being a part of a small town community. Holly enjoys attending all of her child's activities, and she and her husband love being involved with little league baseball. She is a devoted wife, mother, and is very family/community oriented.

B.J. Malcom is an attorney with Malcom, Nelsen & Windrum Law Office in Cozad and Gothenburg. Originally from Eustis, he received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Northern Colorado in 2004 and his juris doctor from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2007.

Prior to coming to Cozad in September 2011, B.J. spent four years on active duty in the United States Air Force as a Judge Advocate assigned to the 28th Bomb Wing and the Air Force Legal Operations Agency. He continues to serve as a Judge Advocate in the Air Force Reserve.

B.J., his wife Melissa, and their children, Brock, Braelyn, and Brantley, live in Cozad. In his spare time he enjoys hunting, fishing, and all kinds of sports. In the short time he has been here, he has been active in the Cozad Bible Church, Cozad middle school and high school wrestling programs, Cozad Development Corporation, American Legion Post 257, and as a volunteer mock trial coach.

James McCrickard is the minister at the Cozad Church of Christ.  James relocated to Cozad from Orlando, Florida on December 31, 2013.  He is a graduate of Florida Christian College (now Johnson University of Florida) and has served in the trenches of the local church ministry since September 1995.   Currently working on his M.DIV.

James is married to Melissa and together they have 3 children, Evan, Amber, and Addyson along with 4 Dachshunds.  James has served as the volunteer local Hospice chaplain as well as a member of the Cozad Rotary Club. He is a big nerd, musician, and gastronome as well as an avid Florida State Seminole and Washington Redskins fan.
Barry Emerson

For over a decade Barry Emerson has been serving Nebraska Seniors and is currently the Senior Chief Executive Officer with Cottonwood Health Care.  While his primary duties focus on operations in Cozad, he also assists in the leadership, development, and oversight of 12 additional facilities in Nebraska.  He is married to Angela who is the Camp Steward at the Crossing campground and conference center in Lexington.  They have four children Clair who is a junior at UNO, Blaine a senior at Cozad High, Noah a junior at Cozad high, and Zion which is a 7th grader.    Barry brings a blend of his life experiences as a pastor, entrepreneur, service provider to our community and he has now been certified by the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners.

Dawn Beans


Dawn Beans grew up in Cozad and attended Cozad High School. She now lives in Cozad with her husband, Steve. They have two sons (Travis and Morgan), and one grandson (Jacob). She is in her thirteenth year of teaching in Cozad.  Dawn teaches business education and students with visual impairments. She received her Business Education degree in 1991 from UNK and her vision endorsement from UNL in 1993, and her Masters from Doane in 2012. She is the Student Council, SkillsUSA, FCCLA, and Assistant-Senior sponsor, Concession Director and started the student-run business, Maker’s Market, at the high school.

In her spare time she enjoys sewing, scrapbooking and spending time with her grandson. She is an avid hockey fan and they are season ticket holders for the Tri-City Storm hockey team.
Melanie Nutt

Melanie Nutt taught band and music for 33 years with 31 of those being in Cozad prior to taking early retirement in 2010. She presently works three days a week at the Tri-City Trib newspaper, substitute teaches in area schools and is employed by B.I.D. to take care of the downtown trees, bushes and flowers. Her husband, Bob, has assisted her with this the past two summers.

She and her husband Bob umpire summer and high school softball and enjoy attending sports and Fine Arts events. They have four children, seven grandchildren with the eighth due in early February and two Wechon dogs.

Melanie is a Parish Ministry Associate in the Nebraska Synod ELCA and provides pulpit supply when called upon. She is active in the American Lutheran Church in Cozad. She is a TeamMate mentor, a member of Cozad Rotary Club, a member of the Mission to Cozad Planning Team, the 100th Meridian Museum Board of Directors, secretary of the Henri Museum Board of Directors, a Thrivent Financial Advocate at American Lutheran, a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post #890 and a member of the One Book/One Cozad Committee.

Mandy Swanson

Mandy Swanson is currently a loan officer at First Bank and Trust Company. Born and raised in Cozad, Mandy moved to North Platte after graduating high school and earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Administration at Mid-Plains Community College. She worked for Cabela's in North Platte, and then Kearney for 7 years in their Human Resource departments before moving back to Cozad in 2008.


Mandy and her husband, Bud, keep busy with their two children, Easton and Madison. She is active in the Cozad Jaycees, serves on the Business Improvement District Board and is currently part of the Dawson Area Development Leadership Program. In her spare time, she enjoys attending local sporting events, reading, boating and spending time with her family.
