The Haymaker Creative District in Cozad has undertaken a project to enhance the Cozad Welcome Garden, located at the corner of 7th and E Street. The original garden, installed in the early '90s, underwent changes due to the deterioration of old bushes spelling out "Cozad." The iconic Cozad-shaped landscaping design was relocated to Muny Park, and a new welcome sign was unveiled. The sign, featuring a modern aluminum design and black lettering, aims to welcome guests to the downtown Creative and Historic District. Natural Escapes, in collaboration with the Creative District, completed the project, with plans for additional plantings in the spring. The sign unveiling event, despite chilly temperatures, included festivities at Meridian Tap House, featuring snacks, pop-up shops, and various attractions. The Creative District continues its community-improvement efforts, currently running a design contest for a mural to wrap the windows of the Haymaker Creative District and Chamber office. Future plans include a downtown gallery display for local artists and a spring/summer vendor show. The Creative District board, led by Coordinator Karlie Buss, is actively involved in these initiatives.
